The first real sign of autumn; the oystercatchers are back. They are not resident here but turn up from time to time. Before I was carrying a camera I seemed to be able to get quite close but now they have become shy. When I got nearer they stopped feeding and decided to sit down ; so they don`t look like a proper textbook illustration.
So thoughtless of them; I require them to pose for the camera.

Stop teasing oystercatchers. How would you like someone pointing a camera at you when you were, possibly, not looking your best? Or maybe they are embarrassed because they haven't caught any oysters yet.

I was neither twitching nor stalking, merely strolling in my own back yard.
Ha! An avian paparazzo! (Or should it be paparazza?)
But no long lens so not trying hard enough.... .no wish to embarrass anyone...... including me.
Am sure they don't really mind. Pics. are fab anyway! Keep 'em coming - all we have in Olney are garden birds, geese, ducks and swans. Mind you, it was v. funny during floods last year - we had swans swimming around in goal on rugger and soccer pitches!
