Oyster catchers .........

....... in the sun. A group of five but I only caught three as they probed the sand for food. They seemed to be finding something to eat so I could get quite close as they were busy.

Lovely photos. I really like the way you have caught the reflections too. I usually get Oystercatchers and lapwings nesting in my field and I go demented by the end of the summer with their alarm calls, but I wouldn't swap them for the world!

Oooohhhh, lapwings.
We used to know them in Cambridgeshire but they are not very common there nowadays.
Ru remembers oystercatchers keeping her awake all night on Blakeney Point.

I was surprised when I moved here that birds actually made so much noise at night! I was living in a caravan while the house was renovated and was kept awake too. I couldn't work out when they actually *slept*! The lapwings remind me of the kids TV programme "The Clangers" and their ariel acrobatics are amazing. Thankfully with 3 ft thick walls in the house I get a good night's sleep now!
