Hope and despair..........

The garden is in need of some TLC.
Rob came in and cleared the top growth  so now we can see where we are. We have to rebuild the flower borders and reorganise the structure and the planting.
We `ll keep you posted .....

I look forward to seeing your new garden develop. I love the photo of the magnificant wall with the culvert running through it.

Lovely Norfolk flint ........

Beautiful. And built by real craftsmen too no doubt. How old would the wall be?

We`ll do some research on the wall and get back to you. We guess about 100 years ago but we will find out.

The guys still repair and replace flint walls in the traditional style but the standard of craftsmanship varies!

We have lots of walls in Orkney made from traditional local stone - all done using dry stone walling methods (no mortar). Again the level of craftsmanship varies!
