...... on the cliff, a bright splash of colour. Tracks in the sand; at first I had no idea what could have made them then I found the caterpillar.
He/she did not look that happy as the sand is very dry, but may have found somewhere to pupate.
I hope so.

am looking out for a reference book about beneficial garden bugs, beetles, caterpillars and assorted beasties.
have come across all sorts in my garden and want to know what to nurture and what to merrily murder.
example - whilst digging some turf i found some wierdies that look like miniature shrimps - goodies or baddies?? what do the grubs feed on? what do they become? are the adults goodies or baddies??
any recommendations for books that will tell me??
