It must be summer ......

...... even if it is still May.

The ginger cat from next door is enjoying the garden and the roses.

A calm sea is tempting the sailing boats out for a trip down the coast.

They don't get many days to enjoy a gentle sail; the North Sea is not that kind to small boats.

This is a Rosa Rugosa which should be OK for you, Sian. Some of them (single ones) grow wild on our cliffs.
The one we grow in the garden is Rosa rugosa, Roserie d l`Haye, not difficult to source these days.
It did get a little bit if salt burn when we had DAYS of non-stop Easterlies 2 weeks ago but not enough to spoil it. A tiny bit of trimming put it right. Your walled garden ought to be enough protection!
love, walrus

Ah - I should have looked more closely, now I have "exploded" the picture I see it is indeed rosa rugosa. I have lots of that in my borders as it proliferates in Orkney! Most of mine are the white variety but I think I have a smattering of the pink one too. But up here the leaves are just growing - way too early for flowers!!
