If it is not moving......

      ....... paint it!
I only got a short walk on the beach as there is much to be done in the garden.
The weather is on our side this week so we must press on ....
Mark you, the muscles are complaining at all this activity.

Saturday 28 March 2009

First you see the pebbles.........

..... then you spot them having a nap on the beach.
The sanderlings are taking a rest and they do all have two legs, really.
The little plover is keeping watch, or just hanging out with his friends.

Surfers are back ..

The sea was jolly this afternoon ... a brisk westerly and snatches of sunshine.

Nature study again........

...... these frogs have no sense  of direction as every time I see them they are facing away from the stream.

The red dead nettle was on the cliff, not what I would expect, but plants will grow where they want.

Monday 23 March 2009

A quiet morning in the shop......

..... the boys are into T-shirts, a can of spray paint, a stencil and lots of ideas. Having obtained a load of T-shirts from E-bay they have plenty to play with.
After a washing test they will be available at the C21 shop.

The broad beans are growing.......

... and they are getting greener;   they have been a bit on the yellow side and  need more sun.
This is the new planter for the Beach Hut's front garden.
As you can see I have gone a bit mad.
The problem now is to move it from the shop yard; I think it will just go in the car.
I know there are lots of stories of people building boats and then not being able to move them, so wish me luck.

New kid out of the block......

A nice piece of oak gate post came my way and this is the result.
She is ready for Open Studios in May but she is yet to have a name.
All the torsos I have made are called  " Something" Rose, like June Rose or Sea Rose but I do not feel Oak or Post Rose has the right feel!
Any ideas?

One happy fisherman........

...returning in the sunshine and indulging in little boat surfing to land on our beach.
He was spotted as we were gardening, Sally planting seeds and moving plants, while I started painting the concrete and the woodwork.
A very productive day in the sunshine.

Tuesday 17 March 2009

The sea is still there ......

...... meanwhile, in the garden planting has been going on with the first tranche of new perennials. They look a bit small but will grow and fill out through the summer.

Sunday 15 March 2009

Seven tons of gravel.....

......not all moved by Tony but he did do the last load to admiring looks from above.

Saturday 14 March 2009

Flowers on the cliff........

..... the first signs of colour in the March sunshine as the plants reclaim the sand after the winter storms.
The yellow coltsfoot is suddenly everywhere.
And the white daisy is higher up the cliff, not as profuse, just one or two scattered over the sand.

Thursday 12 March 2009

Yesterday's photos........

....  I do not know where the time went;
too busy  reading about rising sea levels or some such.

No worries. We have a large anchor and all we need is a large rope so we can bob about on the sea.

Not much fun for those who are already at sea level. Let`s hope something will be done.

Tuesday 10 March 2009

Starter kit....

..... for the garden;
one trolley load at a time, so we can do the planning and planting in a day, weather permitting.
The Head Gardener is selecting with care and enjoying a day out from Mundesley.
And there will be many more.

Sunday 8 March 2009

New land.....

.... and the survivor of the building work.
All this new topsoil  is in need of new plants; what joy!
There will be a trip to a local nursery tomorrow to start the process of selection and then planting.
This is not an easy garden as the wind and salt spray have an adverse effect on most plants.
The patio is south-facing and protected by the new room so it should be able to support more interesting plants.
The terrace is in the teeth of the wind so we may only manage the thugs of the plant world;  watch this space.

Friday 6 March 2009

Morning reflections.........

....... on action man.

The patio is nearly done and it will soon be celebration time for the workers and us.

Wednesday 4 March 2009

My wife and I............

.....It must be March at last and spring is on the way.

A few of the bulbs have survived the garden make over and are beginning to put on a show, albeit modest.

Monday 2 March 2009

Sand and sun......

....but when you look closer there is this little fellow.
I think it is a sandling but I am open to suggestions.
